TDS calculator questions

What is TDS and who deducts it?

Tax Deducted at Source means the person making certain payments, such as fees, rent or commission, deducts a percentage as income tax before paying and deposits it with the government. The payee then claims credit for it when filing returns.

Is TDS deducted on the GST amount?

If the GST is shown separately on the invoice, TDS is generally calculated on the amount excluding GST. Enter the amount without GST in this calculator.

What if the payee has no PAN?

Without a valid PAN the deduction rate is higher: the higher of twice the normal rate or 20%. Tick "No PAN" to see it.

Are these rates always current?

Rates and thresholds are revised in the Union Budget and by CBDT notifications, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 renumbers the sections from 1 April 2026. Treat this as an estimate and confirm with your CA before depositing TDS.
